Michael has extensive experience working on physician alignment projects with various specialists and primary care physicians across the US. In addition to facilitating independent physician practice acquisitions and performing physician/extender compensation modeling, Michael has distinct expertise helping hospitals and physicians jointly craft clinical comanagement agreements that are win-win for both parties. Michael also often works on projects involving change management, and he provides ongoing implementation and execution assistance after the discover/vision and develop/design phases.

Prior to joining Sg2, Michael worked for Charis Healthcare and the National Strategy Practice of Dixon Hughes Goodman (DHG). At DHG, Michael helped to standardize the firm’s approach to clinical comanagement and developed a tool kit for use with clients. He was also intimately involved with clinically integrated network development projects.

Michael has more than 10 years of experience in the health care industry and has worked with numerous hospital clients on projects ranging from physician alignment initiatives to ambulatory strategy projects and freestanding ED validation to service line, hospital and system planning. In addition to hospital-physician affiliation work, he has helped design cutting-edge system-to-system service line affiliation models. His clients have ranged from county-owned critical access hospitals to national for-profit health systems and have included some of the largest and most prestigious academic medical centers and academic health systems in the United States.

Michael received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame.

As a leader on Sg2’s Consulting team, Joe collaborates with health systems, provider networks and industry partners to develop and drive strategies that better position organizations for success in an evolving environment. Within value-based care, he partners with organizations to bring together economic models and structures that align with the organization’s clinical care delivery approach. His expertise is informed by his experience in local and regional clinically integrated networks, value-based contracting, two-sided total cost of care arrangements, direct-to-employer contracting and aligned governance.  

Prior to joining Sg2, Joe was the director of value-based contracting with Henry Ford Health, holding multiple leadership responsibilities. He served as an administrative leader for Jackson Health Network, one of two clinically integrated networks in the health system, where he oversaw network finance, contracting strategy and governance operations. The network’s contracts encompassed value-based arrangements across all payer classes, including two-sided arrangements with a subset of payers and employers. Joe also represented the network in two regional multinetwork Medicare accountable care organization arrangements. In addition, he oversaw the direct-to-employer strategy within population health, which included administrative and operational leadership for the employer-facing occupational health clinical services. 

In previous roles, Joe worked in strategy consulting with both Navigant (now Guidehouse) and Sg2, focusing on projects such as ambulatory network planning, service line strategy, facility capacity modeling, partner-affiliation assessments and enterprise scenario planning. His earlier experience includes public accounting and strategy consulting professional services for health care clients, providing finance statement reporting, audits and transactional services.  

Joe holds a master’s in business administration from Duke University with a certificate in health sector management, a master’s in accountancy from the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor of science in accounting from Marquette University. He also holds a license as a certified public accountant (inactive status). 

Jesi Malloy is a health systems industrial engineer with over 20 years of experience in health care with an emphasis in process improvement techniques, data analytics and benchmarking performance. She holds certifications in Lean process improvement and a Six Sigma Green Belt. From high-level performance improvement to patient-level process flow design, Jesi is dedicated
to helping providers find better ways to deliver high-quality care across the continuum. As part of the improvement journey, she also has expertise measuring and reporting performance across all levels of the organization.

Before joining Sg2, Jesi ran a claims analytics and benchmarking program for a large national consulting firm. She used insights from the data to help customers prioritize, improve care and achieve success on their population health journey. A subject matter expert in Medicare accountable care organization programs, Jesi also has expertise in improving payer performance for Medicare Advantage, commercial and Medicaid payers.

Prior to her time in consulting, Jesi worked for LifePoint Health as director of quality data and reporting, launching the Hospital Engagement Network grant framework for decreasing harmful events and readmissions in rural America. Before LifePoint, Jesi worked in various capacities at Hospital Corporation of America as the lean process improvement director in the Tristar Division based in Nashville, TN, and as a decision support analyst supporting the rollout of the company’s first cost accounting system.

Jesi graduated with highest honor from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a bachelor of science in industrial engineering and a master of science in health systems, also from Georgia Tech.

Jeremy contributes to Sg2’s intelligence on health care utilization trends, strategic planning, technology integration, physician alignment and clinical operations. His areas of clinical expertise include obstetrics and gynecology and minimally invasive surgery. Jeremy leverages his experience as a practicing physician and is an expert presenter and facilitator at various Sg2 events.

As Associate Director of Gynecology, Jeremy oversees quality initiatives at the 4 hospital campuses within NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, IL. He is also deeply involved with clinical supervision of residents at NorthShore sites as a faculty member at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Previously, Jeremy served on the faculty at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. He focuses on bringing evidence-based medicine to the bedside and has been recognized by medical students and residents as an outstanding clinical educator.

Jeremy also maintains a clinical practice and serves as Director of Medical Technology at Midwest Center for Women’s HealthCare in suburban Chicago, the largest obstetrics and gynecology practice in Illinois.

He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center in New York, NY, and served as chief resident from 1999 to 2000. He received an MD from the Yale School of Medicine and a BA, magna cum laude, from Harvard University. He is a fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

As an associate principal on Sg2’s Consulting team, Sommer supports clients to reimagine their care delivery models, patient experience, market strategies and built environments. She has over 15 years of health care provider and consulting experience, with expertise in strategy, operations, finance and design. Her expertise spans the care continuum and ranges from multihospital health systems to stand-alone critical access hospitals to ambulatory.

Prior to joining Sg2, Sommer served in executive leadership roles at both Providence and Hospital Sisters Health System and has national health care consulting experience. She has led in the development and implementation of short- and long-range strategic plans, strategic capital management, advocacy, branding, partnership and physician alignment strategies, as well as space planning and design optimization.

Sommer is motivated by a deep commitment to revolutionizing the patient experience and access to care across the US. She understands the complex issues facing health care providers today and the need to pursue strategies that are both feasible and impactful. A strategist to her core, she leverages qualitative and quantitative data to develop solutions that produce real results for her clients.

Sommer is a board-certified Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She holds an MBA from Millikin University with a BA in environmental sciences from Illinois College. Sommer has also been accredited by the Center for Health Design in evidence-based design, showcasing her understanding of the interdependencies of clinical outcomes, patient experiences, operational efficiency, financial health and the built environment.

Brianna is responsible for driving thought leadership and content development for Sg2 and Vizient members on topics that span the System of CARE, including ambulatory strategy, service distribution, post-acute care and digital health. She is an experienced strategist; prior to her current role, she served as a lead on Sg2’s consulting team, developing innovative and structured planning approaches for hospitals, health systems and academic medical centers. With over 10 years of experience in the health care industry, Brianna has collaborated with clients to develop numerous strategic plans in the areas of enterprise strategy, facility needs and service line growth.

Along with her experience at Sg2, Brianna served as a system director of strategic planning and led planning efforts across the portfolio of hospitals and services at BJC Healthcare in St Louis. Earlier in her career, she was part of Amgen’s commercial leadership program, working to develop access and reimbursement strategies for a newly FDA-approved osteoporosis medication. She also evaluated social sector programs and initiatives at Chapin Hall at the University of Chicago, focusing on child maltreatment prevention, juvenile justice and education.

Brianna received her MBA with a focus on health enterprise strategy and management, marketing, and organization management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. She earned a BA in Latin American studies from the University of Chicago.

As an Sg2 Principal, Kristin specializes in projects across the spectrum of physician alignment, paying particular attention to bundled payments and other value-based care services. She is a continuous innovator of episodic analytic support mechanisms, a mentor to consultants and an industry presenter.

Kristin has over a decade of health care experience in both finance and consulting. Prior to joining Sg2, she spent 7 years with TRG Healthcare Solutions. She has unparalleled experience in and extensive knowledge of all facets of bundled payments, having worked with every hospital in Medicare’s Acute Care Episode demonstration as well as with over 40 hospitals and 60 medical groups in Medicare’s Bundled Payments for Care Improvement initiative. Her consulting focuses on creating strategies for success under episode payment models, developing gainsharing programs to align providers, producing actionable data analytics solutions, and assisting with care redesign initiatives that will improve both cost and quality.

In addition to bundled payments, Kristin’s value-based care work includes providing organizational readiness and feasibility analyses, supporting organizations that are participating in shared savings models, and assisting providers with the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015. She has participated in commercial payer bundled payment initiatives as well as nonalternative payment methodology work such as practice/physician compensation valuation and service line comanagement development.

Kristin received her bachelor’s degree in finance from Texas A&M University.

Heidi has nearly 20 years of health care provider and professional service experience, with expertise in strategic planning and operational improvement. As a principal on Sg2’s Consulting team, she manages complex strategic engagements with academic medical centers, national health systems, regional health systems and community hospitals. A trusted advisor to many health care executives, Heidi answers challenging questions related to market relevance, sustainable growth, strategic partnerships, major investments and disruption/innovation.

Prior to joining Sg2, Heidi served as vice president of strategic planning for Medical City Healthcare (HCA North Texas Division), where she partnered closely with the Sg2 team. She was responsible for leading short- and long-range strategy development, executing strategic growth and expansion across the system. In addition, she oversaw the teams that support system operations and strategic planning. Previously Heidi was a director in the strategic transformation group of the PricewaterhouseCoopers health care advisory division. She led a broad range of strategic planning, operational improvement and transformation engagements. She has worked with acute care providers, academic medical centers, safety net systems, ambulatory networks and international health systems.

Heidi holds both a master of science in health care administration and a bachelor of arts in business administration from Trinity University in San Antonio. She is currently on the faculty for Trinity’s health care administration executive program. Heidi’s passion for the outdoors has also led her to serve as a board member for the Texas Trust for Public Land, whose goal is to improve physical and mental health by bringing parks and green space into communities.

Kim serves as a leader in the Value Transformation Consulting practice, specializing in finding cost-effective ways to improve quality and operations in alternative payment models, care management strategy, post-acute strategy and care model redesign across multiple service lines. Her 20 years of experience in implementing new solutions in an evolving health care environment elevates the performance of each client. She also has significant experience in
practice management, patient engagement and senior strategy.

Before joining Sg2, Kim was a leader at a senior-focused health start-up where she oversaw the home-based geriatric care team operations, partnership growth and client management. She collaborated with health plans, health systems, medical groups and senior living companies to maximize performance in total cost of care risk-based contracts. Prior to that, Kim served as a solution sales executive at Optum, delivering care management and after-hours call center solutions for health systems shifting from fee-for-service into value-based risk-sharing arrangements.

Kim has valuable health system provider experience, previously serving as director of the neuroscience clinical service line at Allina Health in Minnesota, where she led initiatives to expand a telehealth program in stroke care, develop a deep brain stimulation program, and create a cognition and memory program coordinating services and resources for individuals diagnosed with Alzheimer disease and other dementias. She also led a multimillion-dollar research grant to bring a team-based approach to individuals living with chronic conditions to improve clinical outcomes, coordinate care and reduce medical cost. Kim began her health care career as an IT project manager and emergency preparedness leader at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Kim received her master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Minnesota—Carlson School of Management. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the College of St. Benedict.

As a director on Sg2’s Intelligence team, Andrew supports the System of CARE practice area through his research on virtual health strategy. Additional areas of interest include artificial intelligence, consumer medical technology, psychosocial principles and other emerging technologies. Andrew keeps members up to date on the latest technology trends and how to plan for new, disruptive forces and innovation entering the health care industry.

Prior to joining Sg2, Andrew accumulated more than eight years of market research and consulting experience. He served as an analyst for various companies including IBISWorld, IHS Markit and Advisory Board, where he led development on syndicated and custom reports and presented to domestic and international members at online and in-person events. Through these roles, he developed a passion for learning about digital health and how technology can fundamentally improve health care and patient engagement in the future.

Andrew received an MBA from California State University, Long Beach, and his BA from the University of California, Irvine.

As a Senior Director on the Sg2 Intelligence team, Tori leads Sg2’s proprietary Impact of Change® forecasting product, which projects 10-year patient demand across inpatient and outpatient services. She focuses her research on macro-level trends impacting future health care utilization trends and works closely with Sg2’s team of service line experts to ensure the forecast continues to drive value to Sg2 members. Tori also leads Sg2’s Insurance Coverage Estimates product, which projects five-year health insurance enrollment trends at a ZIP code level. In addition to forecasting work, she serves as a podcast cohost on Sg2 Perspectives, which has thousands of weekly listeners.

During her tenure at Sg2, Tori has collaborated with a wide range of providers and life sciences organizations, specializing in strategic framework and innovative model development. She has extensive experience utilizing Sg2’s proprietary data sets to create custom data models.

Tori earned a bachelor of business administration degree in health care management from Belmont University in Nashville, TN.

Bill works on Sg2’s Consulting team, specializing in financial planning and forecasting for value-based care, physician alignment, managed care contracting and payer strategy initiatives. With 15 years of health care provider, payer and consultancy experience, he brings a unique strategic perspective to his clients that is rooted in financial rigor. He also has significant experience in network development, medical group operations, physician compensation, service line strategy and transaction advisory.

Prior to joining Sg2, Bill was a senior leader of the finance department for Rochester Regional Health, where he oversaw the financial operations of the specialty medicine physician enterprise and service lines. In addition to his financial oversight of all medical, surgical and hospital-based specialties, he was responsible for the annual financial planning and budgeting of the system’s physician recruitment efforts. Prior to that, Bill served as a consulting manager at GE Healthcare Camden Group, focusing on advising hospital, physician and consortium-led organizations through the transformation from fee-for-service to value-based reimbursement. Additionally, he was previously a reimbursement analyst in the health care delivery innovation department of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, where he supported initiatives to launch programs around new models of patient care and risk-based reimbursement arrangements. Bill began his career as a management consultant in the health care practice at Blum Shapiro, specializing in pricing transformation and transparency, managed care contracting, charge master strategy, and fee schedule optimization.

Bill received his master’s degree in business administration with concentrations in health care management and finance from the Simon Business School at the University of Rochester. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the State University of New York at Geneseo. He is an active member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and holds Healthcare Financial Professional and Specialist Managed Care certifications.
